Bush Administration Lies

-under permanent construction-

1-100 | 101-200 | 201-300 | 301-400 | 401-500 |501-600

Lie No. 1 - "Job growth is up and unemployment is down."

Rebuttal: No, it's not. It's like everything else the Bush administration claims: it's a web of deception and trickery.
For decades, the U.S. government has been using the payroll method to determine job growth and unemployment figures - that is, till Uncle George W. Bush showed up; now,
BushCo. calculates unemployment figures using the infamously, inaccurate household survey method.

The household survey uses a much smaller sample, for one thing. It covers 60,000 households, while the payroll records of the establishment survey include millions of workers. But more importantly, the household survey counts as "employed" a lot of persons who don't have payroll jobs. Included, for example, are unpaid workers in family businesses, domestic help and self-employed workers such as day laborers.

Lie No. 2 - "Thanks to George Bush's tax cuts, the economy is looking up."

Rebuttal: No, it's not looking up. If anything, according to the experts, you don't have to be an expert to see the big credit balloon is going to eventually crash land. Since G.W. Bush took office, over three million American workers have lost their jobs. Yet this Bush admin hails the latest unemployment figures as some kind of proof the Bush tax cuts are "working hard for America."
