Democratic & Republican Party Lies
Democratic Party leaders have now actually decided to run on the "Don't blame us, blame it on the Republicans" ticket.
This war is not going to stop itself. WarFunders argue that if we cut funding to the troops, the Pentagon will simply use CR to keep the troops in Iraq. Clearly, the goal of the WarFunders is to keep our troops in Iraq indefinitely. Hillary has already promised to keep spending money and lives by keeping a set of American forces operating inside Iraq. And how wise it that? Moreoever, how legal is that? The point is, it was illegal to go in, therefore it's certainly illegal to remain in. All this talk about "building democracies" - there is not a single word, paragraph or code in our laws or constitution which provides for the "building of democracies." The Bush Doctrine of pre-emptive strikes is illegal and unconstitutional as can be.
There is a struggle in America between the WarFunders and the Fundcutters. I use the term "WarFunders" because to fund war is to perpetuate war, and to defund war is to end war. I guess some may that is too simplistic a point of view: It's not just an opinion, but a fact of American history. Since the inception of the War Powers Act, the ONLY WAY our troops came home was when Congress completely cut all funding to the war/military action - each time AGAINST the sitting President's will. Says who? Congress's own Congressional Research Service, that's who.
So all this talk out of the Democratic Party about don't blame Democrats, we don't have enough votes - blame the Republicans is a deadly lie. The fact remains, back in 2004 or 2005, had cooler and wiser heads prevailed in the Democratic Party leadership, the Democratic Party could have easily stopped all funding to the Iraq war and our troops would all be home RIGHT NOW! It takes only 41 Democratic Senators to keep any warfunding bill from coming to the floor of the Senate for a vote. This is a common fact of Congress: it's called "The Filibuster."
But no, this Democratic Party made a conscious decision to value their own political careers over of the lives of U.S. servicemen. Even in 2007, Democratic Party apologists keep apologizing for keeping the troops in Iraq, shamelessly claiming if they cut funding, that would harm their political careers. Take your pick America: 500 or 600 hundred political careers, or four thousand American lives. We see which one the Democratic Party chose.
Take a look at all the excuses below why Congress hasn't gone to the trouble of cutting funding to this war: there is a concerted effort to intimidate and neuter any notion of cutting funding to this war - the WarFunders & Profiteers simply suggest you keep on funding, there's nothing Congress can do, it's hopeless - resistance is futile and unAmerican:
Democrats Stand Back as War Funding Continues

"Congress is currently operating on a "continuing resolution," or CR, which allows the war to be funded at the same levels it was funded last year. According to Murtha, Congress plans to renew the CR in mid-November, allowing war spending to continue unabated into the new year. No proposals to impose restrictions on CR funds have been announced. Last month, a group of Congress members pledged to add provisions for withdrawing all troops from Iraq to any future war funding legislation, but that plan will not apply to the CR, according to a spokesman for Congresswoman Barbara Lee, one of the crafters of the plan. "We're really waiting for the debate on the supplemental to bring that up," the spokesman said in an interview, adding that Lee will probably not vote for the upcoming CR if it includes more funds for war.
Without a specific resolution barring all war funding, it would be virtually impossible for Congress to end the war by the power of the purse alone, according to Larry Korb, a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress and a former assistant secretary of defense. "You've already got the planes, the bombs, the people on the payroll," Korb said in an interview. "Congress can't stop the war unless they pass a bill saying that no more money can be spent in Iraq."
However, the war will not wait for the passage of the supplemental spending bill. In these months before the supplemental comes to the floor, if the administration deems more war funding urgently necessary, it could invoke the Feed and Forage Act, an 1861 measure providing for defense-related emergencies, to draw funds from the treasury, according to Korb. The Act was cited to support the war in Vietnam and the Gulf War, and the Bush administration invoked it immediately after the 9/11 attacks. Citing the Act to finance attacks on Iran would not be unprecedented."
The fact remains: our troops aren't coming home period. Not now, not then. Why? Because there are not 41 Democratic Senators or a speaker of the House willing to filibuster any warfunding bill headed their way. Nancy Pelosi cries "....there's nothing she can do......." Unfortunately, our troops will remain in Iraq even after Queen Hillary takes office, as she has already promised to keep multiple forces inside Iraq indefinitely.
